The legend has it that the manufacturer of tractors Lamborghini decided to build own sportscar after a local mechanic had not been able to repair his Ferrari, and Enzo Ferrari himself refused to meet “some redneck“. It is paradoxical that the family of Lamborghini owned a car company, which had offered the world of movable and adrenaline greedy candidates such legends as Lamborghini Miura, Countach or Diablo, for 10 years only.
In 1973 it was sold by the founder Ferrucio.
Currently Lamborghini Automobili is owned by Lamborghini Automotive S.p.A., which belongs to Audi under Volkswagen Group.
Tonino Lamborghini has no share in the car factory any more. Due to the fact that the father sold the car company only (the tractor production enterprise was later sold to Fiat) to be able to pursue the successful production of wines until his death in 1993 – for three decades his son´s had the right to continue in using the modified mark Lamborghini and especially it´s logo – “raging“ bull in a red field.
Tonino Lamborghini decided for a new, different business in 1981. Except of tractors he pursued heating systems, boilers, etc. till the time. He started the production of stylish accessories in 1981, first for the japanese market. Since 1993 he´s been producing golf carts and needs for golfers, in 1995 he introduced Italian coffee and delicatessen in the market.
